Valentines Day Party Note

Since Valentines Day falls on a Tuesday this year, we will be having our party on Friday, February 10th.

We wanted to let our parents know so they can make plans concerning their child’s Valentine cards this weekend.

We will send another note home on Monday about the details of the party.

SGA FOOD DRIVE

The SGA Food Drive has started. Please send as many cans and other non-perishable food items as you can. Last the out school's SGA contributed approximately 2,700 cans to the following local food banks: Salvation Army, St. Marks Episcopal Church, and State of Alabama Department of Human Resources. Let's help our SGA and our community. If our class does a really good job, we might win lunch!!!

5th, 6th and 7th Grade Electronic Book Pilot

It is with much excitement that we are offering a 9 weeks pilot program for our 5th, 6th and 7th grade students. This will allow students who have an electronic book device the option of using this technology for Accelerated Reader purposes during their set AR or library time. We are defining an electronic book as a Kindle, Nook, iPad, but may not be connected to a cell phone/iphone or ipod. If it goes well, we will continue with electronic books for the fourth nine weeks. This will only be for the 5th, 6th and 7th graders at this time.

Students will be made aware that when bringing their electronic book to school its use will fall under the school’s Technology Policy that was signed at the beginning of the year. The devise must be used for educational purposes and misuse will result in loss of privileges and/or discipline consequences. The students also need to understand that the school will not assume responsibility for the electronic book if it is damaged, lost, or stolen. It will be the responsibility of the student to keep the devise it in a safe and secure location. We encourage students to safe-label their device to avoid confusion.

Please note that regular check out procedures will take place through the library. Electronic books are not required but will simply be an alternative option for our students. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Mrs. Sikes, Mrs. Dee, Mrs. Hinson or your student’s reading teacher.

NEED CLOROX WIPES!!

Parents, we still need Clorox wipes for our room. We only about 3 students bring in wipes before Christmas. We always have to restock after Christmas because we simply run out. I will give extra points and homework passes to those students bringing wipes. Thank you for your help.
